Sunny Show Saturday

A sunny but chilly day today for one of my favorite antique shows, thankfully it was indoors. We got there early, paid our admission and took off shopping. My first purchase was, yes you guessed it "drawers"

I love drawers, and these apothecary drawers are just perfect for storage in the studio. They are 6 inches deep and 10 inches across.

The next booth had the most awesome Mexican Silver bracelet
I bought it, and then had a lady follow me around and approach me in another booth to see if I wanted to sell it. I told her I was keeping it and then she approached me again and offered me even more to sell it. Needless to say it came home with me.

Well you all know I love tins, and I also love jars and cool bottles. Well I bought a great little ginger tin it's 2-1/2"x4", and this great bottle.

Yes I did by some things for resale. I got a Czechoslovakian bracelet, a very old mother of pearl brooch with a barrel clasp, and a tin crown pin.

A vintage "chicken"candy container, these were filled with jelly beans and had a cardboard bottom.

and finally.......I fell in "LOVE" with the most awesome thing. After I bought this I quit shopping. I had seen other things I was interested in and thought I might go back and revisit them, but after buying this I was done. 
A super cool vintage sewing caddy! I am keeping this, and now I will be searching for cool sewing stuff to put in this caddy. It was on the pricey side, but when I saw it I just knew it was meant for me. It just really spoke to me. I love wood things and the patina on this is just awesome! Do you all remember my german sewing scissors from last summer?
Won't they look great in this caddy? I'm on the hunt now for cool threads and maybe and awesome german silver thimble or two. 

We finished the day at Walldorff's Brewpub and Bistro with a "Beesting Honey Rye Ale" and lunch.

Luscious Beads, Great Husband

Twice a year my best friend Sue and I go to Southfield, Michigan to the "Bead Bonanza".  We had plans to go this spring but her husband recently had major surgery and this time she just couldn't go. I tried to find someone else to go with me but it just wasn't the right timing. I was resigned to the fact I wouldn't be going, so I cancelled the hotel and set about enjoying Saturday evening with my husband. He built a fire in the backyard
and we roasted sausage and sat and talked. He knew I was really looking forward to the bead show and he told me he would go with me. I wasn't sure about this, I figured he would get impatient and I would feel rushed, so I said we'll see what morning brings. 

On Sunday I woke up early and had decided to tell him we didn't need to go, but he said "Are you getting ready? I'm going with you." He said I could take my time shopping and it was his decision to go, so don't worry about enjoying myself. We headed out at 7:30 am, stopped at Starbucks on the way and made it there by 10:00am. I left him sitting in the lobby area in a chair with his book. I hit the show and shopped.

I  checked in with him from time to time and not one complaint from him.  I shopped until 3:00 pm. 

I bought some yummy crystal beads in several colors 4/10.00 . "Bead Palace" out of Greenwood, IN. was there and I got a few strands of gemstones from them. Do you see a color pattern here? This was the best anniversary present a girl could ask for!

We left, went for lunch and then headed for home. I sure do love that man!

Estate Sale Saturday

Today was  the first estate sale Saturday of the season. My friend Judy invited me to go along with her this morning. We started out at 8:00 am and headed to a sale in Portage. It started last night at 6:00pm and today was half off. We both spent a little and filled her car. She bought furniture i bought dishes, a painting, and some miscellanous items.

We then went to the vacuum store to drop off her vacuum for repair, the bank for cash(the next sale listed cash only) and headed to Battle Creek to another estate sale. I got some super cool pennants to sell.
Not much at this sale.

Then on to lunch, and a stop a Grant's Antique Mall on the way home.

I have several collections and I thought I would show a few pictures of some of the things I collect. I have already shown pictures of my spoon collection, and some of my tins. But what else do I collect? Well.........................

Vintage Velvet Jewelry Boxes

Ok, so this is a sewing box, but it's velvet and satin and I love it.

I also love jars and silver so when I see these silver lidded jars well............I just have to buy them.

I know, why is the bronze one in there. Well these are dresser jars and the bronze one was a face powder jar. The name of the powder is embossed on the inside bottom "Pozzoni's Complexion Powder" . I thought it fit in with the dresser jars.

and speaking of fitting in.....Look what I got on Friday.

It's quite a small bottle "Muscle Oil"  about 3 inches tall.

While were on silver and glass

I love cut glass and pattern glass shakers. I have several of these and I love to put glitter in them and then just shake out the color I need to use.

Of course I collect dishes, Jadite, Fiesta, China with Cherries, China with Roses, and so on.......

Oh, I forgot Tintype leather and velvet photos and old photo albums.

I guess the last thing I will show you today are photo pins (mourning pins) and photo mirrors.
